"I didn't mean to".
I always deliver it with great sincerity and it often follows a heartfelt "sorry Mum'a'Dad"
But Mum'a'Dad* seem to be on to me.
This morning I stood on the vacuum cleaner hose.
Dad told me not to do it again.
But I did. Straight away.
Then Dad got cross.
"But I didn't mean to, Dad!"
* Mum'a'Dad is the collective term I sometimes use for my parents. It's particularly useful when issuing apologies. "Shorry, Mum'a'Dad", I'll say. Just to cover all the bases.
